Guide and Volunteering Information

We are always looking for volunteers at Solent Ski Club. Help can range from helping kit skiers up at the dry slope in Southampton to skiing, as a Guide, in Italy on our snow training week.

Benefits of volunteering

  • Gain confidence. Volunteering can help you gain confidence by giving you the chance to try something new and build a real sense of achievement
  • Make a difference
  • Meet people
  • Be part of a community
  • Learn new skills
  • Take on a challenge
  • Have fun!

Our Skiers are our colleagues with additional skiing needs, and our Guides are our Skier’s helpers. It all makes sense when you start volunteering, honest 😁

There are training courses available periodically with the Southern Ski Club for the Disabled based at Knockhatch in Sussex but a lot of experience can be gained at Southampton working with our current Guides and Skiers. Our current Guides will be happy to assist and encourage you with your Guiding journey, and our Skiers will teach you more than you could imagine, especially if you are already a snow sports enthusiast.

If you are interested in helping us out, particularly if you are a competent skier (with or without additional needs, as long as you have capacity to help others go skiing), then please contact us via mailto:chairman@solentskiclub.org
